Monday 22nd June — Barnoldswick
Get ready for a night drenched in deep-South blues, swampy grooves and twin-guitar Southern rock thunder as Alastair Greene and The Southern Rock Band roll into Barnoldswick Music & Arts Centre for a powerhouse double-header that will turn the room into a late-night Mississippi juke joint.
Santa Barbara–born and now based in Austin, Texas, Alastair Greene has spent the last two decades building a reputation as one of the most exciting blues-rock guitarists on the international circuit. His music blends Texas blues grit, California rock fire and Gulf-Coast swamp groove — a sound shaped by early influences ranging from The Beatles, Stevie Wonder and Elton John, before discovering the electric blues of B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Johnny Winter, Stevie Ray Vaughan and The Allman Brothers Band.
After earning a scholarship to the renowned Berklee College of Music, Greene returned to California and formed the Alastair Greene Band in 1997. Since then he has released more than a dozen albums, including the critically acclaimed Dream Team, which earned a four-star review and Best Album of the Year recognition from DownBeat Magazine.
From 2010–2017 Greene toured the world as guitarist with the legendary Alan Parsons Live Project, bringing his blues-charged guitar playing to global stages. He has also toured alongside Mickey Thomas and Blues Music Award winner Sugaray Rayford.
Now signed to Ruf Records, Greene released Standing Out Loud in 2024 and the blistering live EP LIVE IN SIN CITY in 2025 — recorded while opening shows for blues-rock legend George Thorogood. Capturing the raw power of his trio live on stage, Greene's music has been compared to a melting pot of Cream, Jimi Hendrix, Carlos Santana and Johnny Winter.
Blues In Britain wrote:
"Imagine a meld of Cream, Johnny Winter, Hendrix and Santana and you will have some idea of the music laid down by Alastair Greene."
While guitar superstar Joe Bonamassa summed it up perfectly:
"Alastair Greene is killing it… he's at the height of his powers."
Sharing the stage are The Southern Rock Band, delivering a hard-driving celebration of the classic American Southern rock sound. Expect twin-guitar fire, deep grooves and bourbon-soaked rock 'n' roll as they honour the giants of the genre including Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers Band, The Outlaws, ZZ Top, Blackfoot, Gov't Mule and Blackberry Smoke.
Expect the room to erupt as the band roll into classics like "Whipping Post," "Midnight Rider," "Free Bird," "Sweet Home Alabama," "Green Grass & High Tides," "La Grange" and "Train Train." These are songs built for the stage — big riffs, soaring harmonies and long guitar passages stretching out like a midnight highway through the Deep South.
Put the two together and you have a night where Texas blues meets Southern rock swagger — slide guitars wailing, rhythms rolling and the spirit of the American South filling the room.
In the intimate listening-room atmosphere of Barnoldswick Music & Arts Centre, this promises to be one of those special nights where the music gets loud, the guitars stretch out, and the whole room ends up singing along.
Blues. Boogie. Southern rock. Swampy grooves and blazing guitars.
One stage. Two killer bands. One unforgettable night.
