In 2024 Legendary British Drummer Bev Bevan celebrated his 80th Birthday. Now in his 81st Year Bev is still going strong and to celebrate his longevity Bev alongside another legendary Brum Band. Quill will be performing a very special festive concert at Barnoldswick Music and Arts Centre. Raising a glass to many of the Brum Bands along with songs from his impressive careeer to date.

He has chosen Barnoldswick Music and Arts Centre as one of the venues he wants to do with his band. He will be performing a selection of songs from his career along with songs from his beloved midlands by bands like Slade, Wizard, Duran Duran plus many more. He will be joined on stage by his now wife and founding member and lead singer of Quill who are also celebrating over 50 years of touring.
The all star band will take you on a fantastic Musical trip around Birmingham and the black country. He will also answer questions on the night if you wanna ask him anything.

Bev started his professional career with Denny Laine & the Diplomats In 1963, opening shows for The Beatles and The Rolling Stones . Following a stint in Germany with Carl Wayne & the Vikings , Bev became a founding member of The Move in 1966, who's 3rd hit single , Flowers In The Rain, became the first record played on BBC Radio 1, in September 1967. The Move topped the UK charts in 1969 with Blackberry Way.
In 1971 Bev became a founding member of Electric Light Orchestra, who went on to have a string of international hit albums and singles and toured to sell out tours worldwide, throughout the Seventies and early Eighties.
In 1982/'83 Bev joined Black Sabbath , touring USA, Canada and Europe (including topping the bill at Reading Festival).
1986 saw him help organise the star studded Heartbeat concert at Birmingham NEC . The charity would go on to make £1 million for Birmingham Children's Hospital.
Throughout the 90's Bev toured the world with ELO Part 2, playing with such prestigious orchestras as the Moscow Symphony, Singapore Symphony, London Philharmonic, Atlanta Symphony and the Singapore Symphony Orchestra.
During the 2,000's Bev hosted his own radio shows on Saga FM, Smooth FM and
BBC WM and was awarded a star on Birmingham's Walk Of Stars and inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame.
Over the years Bev has also played drums on stage or in the studio with an impressive list of musicians including Paul Weller, Marc Bolan, The Jools Holland Band, Phil Lynott, Robert Plant , The Everly Brothers, Del Shannon, Paul Carrack, Rick Wakeman and Bobby Womack, to name but a few.

Quill is a six piece music group originally from Birmingham UK which blends Rock, Folk and Americana styles with a unique blend of drums and percussion, violin and beautiful vocal harmonies. The band have been touring over 50 years.
It's been quite a journey and their show will feature favourite songs they have played from 1973 to the present day. It will be a fantastic trip down memory lane for all the longstanding wonderful fans Quill have built up over the years - and for anyone who enjoys classic songs played and performed by great musicians.
So, get ready for a fabulous night of music featuring the legendary Bev Bevan. In 2017 Bev was inducted into The Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame, having notched up 50 million + album sales with a music career that spans 60 years, performing with The Move, E.L.O and Black Sabbath. During the show Quill will pay homage to Bev's illustrious career, giving the Quill sound to memorable tunes, Blackberry Way, Flowers in The Rain, Telephone Line and Don't Bring Me Down to name a few.
Some amazing talent has come from the Midlands music scene The Moody Blues, Black Sabbath, Denny Laine, Robert Plant, Slade, Steve Winwood, The Fortunes, The Move and E.L.O to mention a few, Quill are currently recording an album, tentatively titled Midland Beat, to be released alongside the tour. Some of these tracks will be played by Quill on the night to pay tribute to these talented Midlands musicians.
It;s not easy to sum up Quill in a few words, but when you draw on deep diverse musical sources, and when long lifetimes of experience inform your stage craft and presentation, wonderfully interesting things can and do happen.
