DSHS qualified for 8 hours CEU
Animal Control Officers are responsible for investigating complaints, documenting incidents, and often serving as key witnesses in court. This full-day course is designed to strengthen two of the most critical skills in the field: writing professional, defensible reports and providing confident, credible courtroom testimony.
The first half of the course focuses on report writing, covering narrative organization, factual documentation, descriptive writing, and evidence handling. Participants will complete hands-on exercises using mock scenarios to practice writing reports that stand up to legal scrutiny.
The second half of the course centers on courtroom practices, teaching officers how to prepare for testimony, understand courtroom procedures, and present themselves professionally on the stand. Students will participate in a mock trial to experience real-world testimony and cross-examination.
By the end of this training, officers will be equipped with the tools and confidence to effectively document their investigations and testify with clarity and professionalism.
