Outrageous rocking punk/blues/rock outfit from London.
Coming very soon to Barnoldswick Music & Arts Centre — lock up your daughters, hide the bar tabs and brace yourselves — because SOHO DUKES are swaggering out of the smoke, pint in hand and trouble on their minds, dragging with them a riot of rattling piano, slashing guitars and pure, unfiltered London attitude. They might spin you that tale about being a nineteenth-century drinking club born on a crawl through the backstreets of Soho — and truth be told, you'd half believe it — but what's undeniable is this: since kicking the doors in back in 2017, these East End-leaning reprobates have grafted, gigged and grafted again, leaving a trail of sweat-soaked venues and ringing ears across the UK. Their latest record "Nighthawks, Acrobats and Everything Under The Moon" has been hailed as "top-grade rollicking rock 'n' roll" — a proper knees-up of swagger, storytelling and street-corner soul — while their live shows are described as a full-tilt, "cockney show" bursting with "swagger and bags of attitude" that grabs you by the scruff and doesn't let go. Think bar-room brawls soundtracked by The Rolling Stones, knees-up piano via Ian Dury, a flash of Small Faces melody, a punch of Dr Feelgood R&B grit, and a boot up the backside from the Sex Pistols — all shaken up and hurled straight at you with a grin and a glint in the eye. Frontman Johnny Barracuda spits tales like the bloke at the end of the bar who's seen it all and lived to sing about it, backed by a band that swings, stomps and snarls in equal measure — honky-tonk grooves, glam flashes, punk energy and pure London mischief all rolled into one glorious racket. This isn't polite. It isn't sensible. And it certainly isn't safe. It's a full-blooded, beer-stained, piano-pounding, guitar-slinging riot that turns any room into a sweatbox of singalongs, stompers and Saturday-night mayhem. So step inside, take your chances and get stuck in… because like they've told you already — there's absolutely nothing you can do about it.
